I have version v2.06 10-2007 of Naslite and recently changed boxes. Sometimes when it reboots I get the INVALID for the licence status. I "think" it may be a piece of hardware that does not always get picked up. Can you give me any idea's on how to troubleshoot this?

I think it is swapping between to licence codes.

2.06 what? cdd, usb or hdd? I'll bet it's usb and you are booting off of it. If that's it, then turn off usb2 support in the bios and if that doesn't work get a cheap usb stick and not a fancy one with security and all. sometime the more expensive usb flash has a hub inside that can be flaky.

Nope.... using a HDD to flash card convertor.

If I get the boot logs from when I loose the licence and also the log from when it is working .. can someone on the forum identify the hardware that is causing the issue

In the bios disable DMA for the ide channel where you have the flash. Pick pio or something low level like that. Yeah, post the logs so people can take a look.

Okay.. I have tried all kinds of settings in the BIOS and still the same thing.. the system switches between 2 licence codes...could not posts 3 logs at once.. see if you can identify the issue from what I have posted from this.

One thing to note is that the on board network card has been disabled and a PCI gigi network card has been installed.

have you installed the HDD version on a hard drive as well as the flash card - i did that and it confused the hell out of the system - there is a function in the HDD install to clean the version off the HD - i forgot to do that - once i had it then booted off the cf card and found the correct licence every time

Hi all

I found out what the problem was. Although I had disabled the on board network card in the BIOS, Naslite was seeing it everyonce in a while. I am not sure how or why. Any ideas?

In order to get the system going, I re-enabled the on-board network card.

So my new questions are. If someone want to add a gigabyte card to the NASLITE system that has an on-board network card, how do they do it, so Naslite does not see the on-board network card? I have checked my mother board and the only way to turn off the on-board card is though the BIOS as there are no jumpers for it.

Buggy BIOS can cause all kinds of problems including what you are experiencing. There is a way however, so you can have the on-board NIC enabled and install an add-on NIC. With the two NICs you'll have to select "FIRST" or "LAST" using the NASLite-2 Admin Network Menu. The add-on NIC will usually be the last one since it will get initialized after the on-board device.
