It is probably alot safer to re-format the drives in NASLite.
I moved ext3 drives from an Ubuntu box and I have had a nightmare with permissions problems. The problem is that you cannot just login to get a command line and fix permissions on the NASLite box.
I have had to terrabytes of data to clear drives, reformat them in NASlite then copy them back. It is a bit like trying to get changed in a telephone box, it can be done but takes a bit longer.
I am still having permissions problems with drives formatted with NASLite, so no straight answer.
