I read the PDF manual and it seemed to imply that the only way to add a drive to NASLite-2 was to format it. Is this true? I have a Kubutnu server I wish to convert but if I have to wipe the drives (EXT3) I'm not shure if its worth it.

Also what happens if something happens to your config files? You have to format and start from scratch? Obviously that does not make sense so I'm going to assume I read wrong...

So can someone put me straight? Do you have to wipe a drive to add it to NASLite-2 or can you add a pre-made drive?

If the drives are already formatted ext3 then they should be found with no problems at all by NASLite, with no re-formatting required.

It is probably alot safer to re-format the drives in NASLite.

I moved ext3 drives from an Ubuntu box and I have had a nightmare with permissions problems. The problem is that you cannot just login to get a command line and fix permissions on the NASLite box.

I have had to terrabytes of data to clear drives, reformat them in NASlite then copy them back. It is a bit like trying to get changed in a telephone box, it can be done but takes a bit longer.

I am still having permissions problems with drives formatted with NASLite, so no straight answer.
