Good AM.

I recently tried to upgrade from NASLite 2.02 USB to 2.06 because of the AFP support. I was under the impression that switching the files naslite01 and naslite02 from the 2.06 image to the USB key which had been running NASLite is all that was needed to upgrade without having to remount, thus wipe out your arrays/drives. At first it wouldn't boot, I fixed that, but now during the startup sequence, NASLite fails to find the unlock info, or my configuration, it thinks its a new install. I put back all the original files from 2.02 on the USB key and it still sees it as a new install. If at all possible, I would like to get my config back, even if I have to stay with 2.02. I'm running RAID 1, but if I were running RAID 5 this would be a complete disaster! Thanks for any help!

The configuration has absolutely nothing to do with the content of your drives or RAID array. Everything that you had on the storage volumes prior to upgrading will still be there as it was.

Like I pointed out in email, moving the associated files over to the USB boot device has damaged the configuration data, so reprogramming your boot device is now necessary. That's a simple, 5 minute task as follows:

1. Program the USB boot device using the NASLite-2 USB CD-ROM.
2. Boot the server using the newly-programmed USB boot device.
3. Login to admin menu, provide the license ID, IP, etc., save and reboot.
4. Use client with a browser and view Status to request unlock.
5. Login to admin menu, provide unlock, save and reboot.

DONE.

Hmmm... I moved the very same files over to my USB pen without any problems and unless I'm missunderstanding something this method was also suggested by Ralph in the following post:

What am I missing? :)

If one does the move on a windows machine, in most cases deleting the files prior to moving the new ones over will create a "Recycle" resource. That's more than enough to destroy the configuration. If swapping the files as we suggested, just copy overwriting the existing ones and avoid deleting first.

You have to delete the files completely, as I said in that post, and that does mean emptying the trash. Simply copying over them will not work.
