Hi All,

I have successfuly made a connection to my Nas box with a vpn connection. However I can't seem to map the drive, I can only make the connection using http or ftp. Any thoughts? Has anyone else done this?

Ftp works fine for retrieving doc's and such but what I really want to do is update my music library in Media Player 11. FTP I can only select 1 song at a time.

Well, I don't know how you would map a network drive if you used a vpn, however I have successfully mapped my naslite as a network drive after I ftp'd it.

Does that help?

Neal

I map the drive over VPN at work all the time... Just have to use the IP address instead of server name (\\192.168.x.x\Disk-0 for me, instead of \\NAS\Disk-0).

FYI my VPN server is ClarkConnect 4.0, but others should work the same way.

From inside my network I mapped my NASLite box as my Z drive and when I connect from outside via VPN I simply click on the Z drive in Windows Explorer and it just connects! Surely that is the whole point of VPN - existing mapped drives just connect when accessing from outside the network via VPN?

The issue must be inside of my vpn client software. It seems to be hit and miss. I just tried it again and it worked. Well since we are on this subject....The main reason I am connecting to my nas via vpn is for my music files and photos. Is there a simple solution for viewing the thumm of my photos as perhaps a html page within the folder?
