First I had no video.....A short chat with Ralph cleared that up. I had the jumper setting on the RAID card set to 64bit.

Once that was corrected I was able to get into the RAID bios and configure the Array. I just used the wizzard to auto configure the RAID 5 Array. This all seems to work.

Now the system bios I set the boot sequence to boot the CDrom first and the floppy drive second. I disabled the C drive as the 3rd (wasen't sure about that one.)

When I reboot the system the drives fire in sequence but nothing happens. I have my Naslite cd in the drive (I assume that I was to just copy the file I downloaded onto the cd??) but I get nothing.

I assume I have something set wrong in the bios or the OS file is a bad copy.

Screen just reads F1 to try booting again, F2 for setup. Help Me Please :?

I know I have to be close.

No you cant just copy the file on to a cd. It's an ISO image which needs to be burned as such. This will create boot sector, folders and files on the CD. The CD you have in the tray now only has the unpacked ISO with nothing else, it wont boot :)

How to burn ISO files:

I wondered if that had something to do with it. I thought that was entirely too simple. I will give it a go and post back.

UPDATE: NASLite booted - however the keyboard now does not work. This ia a USB keyboard...any suggestions?

Sounds like this may not be supported...I have an old ps2 board at the office that i will try.

I have a few questions though:

1. S.M.A.R.T. - In my current configuration (LSI MegaRaid Sata 150-6/ 4 seagate Barracuda 250's in RAID 5) all of which support SMART, I do not see any information in Naslite about the drive status. Is there something I must do? NASLite indicates unavailable??

2. Windows XP user here - have never used Telnet...How do I do this to login to the admin account?

3. How are you guys getting your data transfer rate specs? Is there an easy utility to check this? I transferred 1.6gb of photos in appx 3 minutes. (thats about as good of specs as I have for now.) :D

All in all I am very pleased with the outcome of this. I think I just need to do a few tweaks here and there and I will be good.

Oh one more thing - In the network settings the gateway was set to 0.0.0.0 I changed to 192.168.1.2 the same ip as NasLite. was this the correct thing to do or does it matter?

Hi,

To telnet to your box, click start then click Run, a little box pops up.
in this type in telnet 192.168.1.2 or what ever IP you are using for the nalsite box.

You are ment to put the gateway IP or your modem/router. I leave mine blank.
