I upgraded to 2.04 USB at the same time as I moved my server guts into a new case - this case has a speaker. Now, I don't know if this beeping has been happening all the time un-noticed due to no speaker or if it's a new feature of 2.04, but I can't find any reference to 1 x 700Hz, 1 x 300Hz in the manual.

Can someone shed any light on the topic with respect to the reason for the (now becoming very annoying - so I switched the box off) beeping?

That’s a disk mirror alarm. Check the mirror destination disk status page for details. The updated manual is on the v2.04 CD-ROM.
