Hopefully this can be fixed...help, please!

All is running well on the NAS, except for one quirk. If I try to access the established shares from the Network Neighborhood (or use "net view \\NAS"), I cannot drill down into them, despite the share showing up. I get an error 53 from the "net view" or "\\NAS is not available. You might not have permission...The network path was not found". If I enter the IP directly via Windows explorer (ie: \\10.0.0.5 from the address bar) or use the "net view \\10.0.0.5" command, all is well.

The name ("NAS") is not being resolved or associated with the IP. This can be bad for those programs that obviously do not allow for any kind of IP entering.

What is up? No firewalls or the like. Does this from every PC in the house.

Kev.

I think you might be able to add this to your local host file
http://accs-net.com/hosts/how_to_use_hosts.html
just add the ip and name of the nas server

eg add AFTER!!! 127.0.0.1 localhost

10.0.0.5 NAS
