Hi,

I already have a NASLite 1.4 runnning on floppy with 4 HDD already plugged in and working fine.

But I am out of space and since I have a PCItoIDE card (and a spare CD drive available), I am thinking of adding additional drives this way. So I need to upgrade to NASLite 2.

While this looks promising, things will obviously get messed up with the addition of the CD drive and the existence of data (that I want to keep) in the old drives.

Should the upgrade be problematic? Anything I should be worried about such as the need to reformat all the drives...

4th drive is 13GB drive

Thanks

The old drives and data should be fine with the new install regardless of where they are connected. Provided your PCI-to-IDE controller is supported, and you allow sufficient IRQs, you should be able to run with 7 IDE drives and a CD-ROM without a problem.

The only gotcha that you can expect is the disk names. Take a look at the NASLite-2 manual for details on upgrading from a previous version.

Which I just did... thanks for not giving me the RTFM (you could have done it :D )

I'll verify compatibility of the PCI-IDE card...

btw, I love the Security feature... I have 3 Windows Media Centers pounding the server with read request and I have always been worried about someone inadvertantly deleting the 1200 albums and the 30 DVDs stored! Took me a while to convert them... don't want to get these albums from the basement to re-do the conversion.

Thanks and good work!
