NASLite Network Attached Storage

Hi all, I was hoping that someone could shed some light on this problem. My config is listed below:

ASUS A8N-VM CSM onboard NVIDIA GeForce 6150
AMD Athlon 64 3000+ 1.8GHz
512 MB Kingston Hyper X DDR
3ware 8506-4LP 4 Port SATA RAID Controller
2 X WD Caviar RE2 WD5000YS 500GB on the 3ware in RAID-1
2 X Seagate 7200.8 200 GB SATA. One each on the onboard nvidia SATA controller (no RAID)

I just installed the 3ware RAID-1 and I want to write all the data from my other two drives (on the nvidia controller) to my new array. Both the array and the Seagate drives are obviously in th ebox, but when i copy my files over, I get speeds of about 1 MB/sec, I think the highest I've seen it get to was ~5, but for the most part it was at ~1. What possible reason could there be for this? Thanks for your time! Any help would be appreciated!

i may very well be mistaken as my knowledge of these things is about next to nill, but wouldn't data copied from one NASdrive to another transit through the computer which sent the copy command? So speed would be limited by both bandwidth and cpu power? if you do not have a gigabit network then 1MB/sec sounds consistent wi someth my experience.

Bizarrely, comp-->NASbox transfers are slow (max 3 MB/s), but NAS-->comp transfers are much quicker (up to 8 MB/s). I therefore always use FTP to get data to the NAS, as I would get speed of about 10-11 MB/s.

I read somewhere that slow comp-->NAs transfers were due to OS X (which I am on) somehow, so on the other hand being under Windows you should not suffer from the same problem.

Having said ALL that, i only have NASlite 1.5, and I don;t know if transfers have been improved with release 2.
