I've had my system set up several weeks now and the mirroring was working until a week or so ago (I just noticed it today.) I want the contents of disk-0 mirrored onto disk-2. The mirror setting on disk-2 is "/Disk-0/6" which should be 11PM my time. I haven't changed anything in the setup. Any ideas what could be wrong or where to look?

Hi,

To perform the mirror at 11PM the setting would be Disk-0/23

gaiden: Ah but my time is GMT -7 so /Disk-0/6 should be 11PM, right? I don't think it matters, though, since files that have been on disk-0 for several days have not been copied over to disk-2 even though the NAS has been on continuously.

dimension: Yes I deleted the lost+found awhile ago, after I saw several posts suggesting that should be done.

OK, Did you verify that you did not delete the MIRROR file on your mirror disk? I did that once by mistake. You can also check through telnet and see if the mirror is set on your drive.

MIRROR file is still on disk-2 although it is set to read only?????

Disk-2 configuration menu it says
9 - Mirror to Disk-2 [ /Disk-0/6 ]

I started thinking more about gaiden's post. Should I be setting my local time for the mirror or GMT (adjusted to to reflect when I want it to run)? In other words is set system time/date the only place I use straight GMT. Mirror and anything else (is there any other setting?) use my local time?

Is the drive set to RO? That will explain the problem since a RO setting on the drive will prevent anything from writing to it. Set the drive to RW and things should be back to normal.

The drive is RW- I just manually copied a file to it successfully. It's the MIRROR file that is RO. Is that right?

Your NASLite time should be set to GMT, however that will not prevent the mirror event from running. Keep in mind the hours are set 00 to 23 so 6 PM is actually 18. When the NASLite clock reaches that time, the mirror will (should) execute.

Thanks for clearing up the time used for mirroring. I have my mirror time set to "6" which is 6AM GMT. Subtract 7 hours to get my local time, 11PM the previous day which is when I want the mirror operation to run.

But, the NAS PC is on 24 hours/day and mirroring is NOT working. Files and folders that have been on the source disk for a week or more have not been copied over to the mirror disk.

First thing you need to determine is if the mirror event executed. You can do that by looking at the Disk-2 Status page and see if there are mirror details displayed. That's assuming that the machine has been on for 24 hours or so and the mirror event should have occurred since last reboot.

If the event executed, then copy that portion of the page and paste it in your next post so we can be on the same page as we continue.

Ah!

Try the time with a leading zero so that /Disk-0/5 becomes /Disk-0/05. Single digit time seems to be the culprit. Let me know if that resolves the issue and we'll fix it in the next release.
