I've been a loyal NASLite user for a while now. Today, I added another IDE hard drive (WD Caviar SE 320GB) to my other two that were already in the box, giving a total of three drives in the box. This new drive was installed as Secondary Master and is the only item on the secondary IDE channel.

When I boot the NAS, the new drive shows up in #3 -- Storage Configuration as Disk-2, IDE-0-1-0-0. I can select the drive and format it, but when I reboot, I see a new error -- "Driver forced to serialized" during bootup. After booting, NASLite shows the drive as [IDLE] and [PASS] while the other two are [CLEAN] and [DONE]. Going back in to #3 -- Storage Configuration and selecting drive "2", I see STATUS: NOT MOUNTED.

How can I fix this issue and get this drive working?

Thanks in advance for the help.

No solution I'm afraid, but your note has reminded me that I wanted to find out why I get a similar error, but for 1394a rather than "driver".

Interesting as I have no Firewire capability on the NAS!

What you see is normal behavior. The "Driver forced to serialized" message is related to FireWire and does not affect IDE. As far as the drive, you'll have to set the Disk export to RW. To do that go to the admin menu, then Option-3 (Storage config), Option-X (Where X is your disk), then cycle Option-1 until RW is selected.

Hope that helps.

Tony... Thank you for your reply. Setting the Disk export to RW and rebooting fixed my problem.

THANKS!
