I am thinking about setting up a machine with a mixture of SATA/IDE drives. Is the CD version able to show the drives as one visble drive? My apologies if this is already posted...

Only if you use a RAID card and make them a RAID array

Additionally it has to be a HARDWARE RAID card. See the docs for supported cards.

Since you are mixing SATA/IDE the answer is no. RAID cards are usually either all SATA or all IDE. I haven't seen one with a mixture.

At the least you would see 2 big drives. One for all the SATA drives and another for the IDE drives.
