Hi,

I'm new here, and I realy need help.

I juste installed NASLite-2 CDD, but to activated I contact Ralph! Because I can't access my NAS except thrue Telnet. Since the activation is done, I can see my NAS thrue the network browser, but still impossible to go on the drive.

I'm behind a Firewall/router IPCOP1.4 with a Asus rackmount switch. The weird thing is I can connect to NAS thrue the Telnet session from everywhere in my house but all other service still off!

I got a godd ping too, so Somebody have any idea about that?

Tks

Warbird

Hi Warbird,

Ensure you have unlocked the software, thats adding the license key saving the config rebooting then using the browser to get a unlock key then add this then save and reboot, and also check that in the storage options for your drive/s that each one is RW.

If you can ping the machine and access it via TELNET, then you will also be able to access via HTTP unless your client is blocking access. NASLite has no facilities to restrict so the issue is on the client-side. If your machine is unlocked, then the same will hold true for all access protocols. I'd start with your PC and make sure any restrictive measures are properly set.

All that provided the client and the NASLite machine are on the same network and visible without a gateway or port forwarding. Else, you'll have to handle all of the ports accordingly.

In other words, pay attention to your IPCop configuration ;-)

Hope that helps.

Ok,

But to get my NAS unlock I talk with Ralph, and he doing it for me. After I insert the unlock code, only at this moment I saw the nas on the neigborhood.

With Windows XP and is firewall, do we need to configure something or it is suppose to pass thrue?

I already try with IPCOP disconnected... Without result!

So if you can give more hint it will be appreciate.

Try using the IP of the NASLite box in your web browser, http://<insertiphere> instead of using the name of the machine.

What happens when you put in the IP of your server in your web browser?
if you can see the html pages of the server on the server status what does unlock say?

When I put IP in my browser ( I try IE and Mozzilla) he told me that impossible to reach the server or I don't have sufficient wright to get access.

I try a couple of thing;

1. I try to dissable my firewall... Nothing change,
2. I try to disconnect my firewall/router IPCOP... Nothing change,
3. I try another computer... Nothing
4. I ping the NAS from 2 different computer, and always get a very good ping result.
5. I can connect from telnet with 2 different computer.

To get my unlock code, I was talk with Ralph direct with OnLine support, so after that I can see the NAS thrue my neigborhood, but stay impossible to connect, always said insuficient rule to connect... It look like waiting for a form of password.... It's realy weird here.

If someone have a good idea it will be very valuable for me

When you telnet into your NASLite box and check under services.. are they all enabled? What is the IP of your client and what is the IP of your NASLite?

Like I said in my initial post, NASLite has no facilities to restrict your request for access. If you can TELNET, then your NAS is visible to the client. The problem is on the client end. Especially if you can't get to it via HTTP.

Check your internet settings, your firewall, etc.

What do you get if you type the following in Windows Explorer (Not IE):

\\#.#.#.#\Shares

where #.#.#.# is the NAS IP address...

Like I said, when you telnet into the NASLite box, check under services and make sure HTTP is enabled (it is by default so shouldnt be a problem....).

Do you have any VPN client software on you Win XP machine. If you do you should turn off security policies.

Port-scan the NASLite-2 box and see what comes back...
