loaded optimal defaults and turned off raid. going to clear the cmos and make notes and see if what I get..

But during my tests diskwriggler failed when i went to far much like what was happening to you.

Thx for the effort gaiden! My numbers are totally random and can start off with complete halt only to race up to 11MB/s... I'm not a person who usually gives up but I've had it with this issue.

I've been following this one, but have nothing to contribute since nether Ralph nor I have experience with that board. My bet would have been IRQs since the results seem to be erratic. The ACPI being hardwired on is pretty lame too.

I only had a problem when I messed to much with the bios settings.

Superboss i'd load optimal defaults set the cpu up and disable the onboard raid and leave the rest. maybe clear the cmos and start over.

could you have disabled to much in the bios, You see this board KT7AR I have been using has had all flavours of naslite and undergone a fair amount of testing with naslite and the only time i got a write failure was when i went in to the bios and messed around.

Just going to clear my cmos and make notes of the things I change in the bios.

Yeah I cleared the CMOS and loaded optimal defaults but to no use. I still get the same random numbers. I will try moving the raidcard + nic into another box I have and see if that helps at all. If not, it must be the raid card. I appreciate your help!

It's obviously alot lower numbers than on the KT7A based box but at least its not choking down to 0.01MB/s! Back to the KT7A again I guess :S Anyone got any recommendations for a motherboard? I'd prefer something that would support my Duron 800 and also USB boot!

Dont ask me how because I'm not sure but this puppy is flying! :D I reset the megaraid card to factory defaults and plugged the card back into the KT7A, this time putting the NIC in PCI slot 3 instead of 2 (just for kicks as they supposedly share the same IRQ). The card got the same IRQ as earlier so I guess it was down to some setting on the megaraid card? Either way, I'm very happy with the writer numbers Im getting now :)

If (god forbid!) anyone else gets this problem I have now installed my video card (pci) in PCI1, the nic in PCI3 and the megaraid card in PCI5.
