Hi all... my two servers have worked without a hitch for for about two years on v1.1 of naslite server suite...

Having recently discovered that my xbmc can run DVD image files over a network with the menus etc I obviously wish to transfer some image files to my server drives (saves on blank DVD's). Obviously I've run into the 4gb file size limit.....

If I purchase v2 of naslite, can I use the new version without re-formatting my drives (will I retain the data) + from reading these forums, the 4gb file size limit has been removed... I assume I am correct...

Thanks

David

Hi David,

You do not need to format your drives, just upgrade and thats it!
you also have the option to add a Journal to the filesystem, Recommended. and the 4GB Limit is removed.

I also use XBMC and you will be pleased to know it supports Bin, img, iso and other formats for playback.

Hi David,

It has two options for connection, one is on the motherboard usb header and the other is the standard usb connection.

Hi David,

Be aware that some readers dont work, a couple of members here have had problems with writing the naslite images to the CF card in the Card Reader. Mine worked out of the box when I got mine a few years back.

If you purchase a reader and it works fine could you post back the model and make so others will be aware. thanks

one tip is that the check can take a LONG time.

Theres always risks with this kind of thing <insert disclaimer here>

however if you want to save time skip the check and go straight to check and repair automatically.

Also when this starts make SURE you can keep your server on for the duration e.g. if you have a UPS sitting there and plans to add it do it before hand

Thanks... I started the "check and repair" about an hour ago, still running.

I've already backed up what I want, so I think that once the first drive finishes (didn't realise it would take so long), I will just use the option to format the other 3 drives for use......

Thanks anyway
