Athlon XP 2200 processors can be had for around $50.00 new now. I got a pair of them and re-strapped them to be MPs in my game server. Quite the deal for a processor of the power these are.

Thanks for the tip Mike. I'll see if I can pick one up. :)

I actually find ALucas' workaround a little unusual. Wouldn't you rather just record directly to your NAS, instead of recording locally then having to move everything over? Maybe he's ripping commercials and/or encoding to mpeg4 or something at the same time, then it makes a little more sense.

I 've been away for a while. The reason I am doing it this way

a) I prefer to use the fault tolerant disk space(RAID 5) on my Naslite server for "important" content which I only consider as movies, DVDs etc. mostly what is regarded in SageTV as Imported Video.
b) At the moment, out of the 2.5TB on my Naslite server, 2TB is one volume and I am uncomfortable in recording multiple streams (can be up to 4) to one drive given the fragmentation that will happen in such an event. Moreso, there is not easy way of defragmenting the Naslite storage.

My TV recording drive is a single SATA 500GB drive which is adequate for my recording needs and I find that by using this I don't screw up the playback of the "important" video content by making the 2TB drive very fragmented.
