I read in one of the forums here that remote access is not possible.

Now I have tried to configure my routerS....to port forward to the computer set up with nas lite but if I put the actual WAN address I cant see anything..I can only see my web pages when I enter the LAN address...do I have my routerS configured wrong or is it that NAS lite is not meant for me to host my web site to the rest of the world?

Now keep in mind any web site I have is for experimantal purposes only so its not like I am going to be completely pissed if I cant get this to work, however I would like to access my files remotely.

Thanks

NEal

Hi Neal,

you could access remotely using the gateway option, But the best way to access your files is to install a FTP server on your windows machine.
You would then map to your nas drives and create a login for you.
you could also do the same with a http server.

I'm not sure what the gateway option is...nor have I seen that in the manual

Are you talking about Remotely Hosted Storage?

Are you using NASLite or NASLite-2?

NASLite does not allows a default gateway to be set which will prevent it from being directly accessed by a computer not on the local network - this has been added to NASLite-2.

In addition - you appear to have multiple nested NAT routers - you are going to have routing issues that your consumer grade equipment was not designed to handle.

I have naslite 2-cdd

The Spa 2100 ia a voip router...Broadvoice insists that I put this behind the cable modem and in front of my netgear router....I have not figured out how to just add it to my router as a part of the network...I have done this before but it seems to conflict with the router alot and then I have alot of dropped calls, but I guess that problem is beyond the scope of this forum.

I appreciate the response. I guess for right now I need to get in touch with broadvoice and see how to add their voip router to my netgear router and then I will take it from there.

Thanks

Neal

The reason that they want this is to keep the ping time down for one. The real reason is that unless your netgear router is QOS (Quality of Service) aware then all packets will be treated the same and the voice packets will be routed through when they come and in order with all other traffic that goes over the connection. The broadvoice router will store and forward the data packets and give priority to all the VoIP packets.
