NasLite-2 tells me that I should not need to set up the Journal. But after installing new drives and formating them I get a message that says no journal found.

Why would you not apply journeling? There is a reason that it is there, use it.
It's easy to apply and enhances file system security in the event of a power loss and crash. (I have NEVER seen NL crash though, is it even possible?)

I guess if you got a real dog of a pc like a 486 or a p60, you can get 2% performance boost without the journal

The question wasn't about the merits of journals. My concern is what NASLite-2 tells you when you go to do a journal. It implies that the journal step is only necessary if upgrading from NASLite-1. I assumed that NASLite-2 did it automaticaly, which it does not.
