NASLite-2 v2.02 is almost complete with a number of fixes addressing some minor issues identified in the previous weeks. Mainly, the ability to create 1TB+ RAID array partitions and SMART have been reworked. We are also looking at SATA SMART, but that work is still pending.

The documentation is also undergoing a major overhaul, mainly to better cover supported hardware. This has proven quite a task since the source of many of the drivers had to be manually reviewed in order to extract the necessary IDs for proper chipset identification.

NASLite-2 CDD and HDD will not be released until after NASLite-2 USB v2.02 is released. It is important to us that all available versions of NASLite-2 are clear of issues and well documented.

Anyway, this is a statement of progress. Thanks everyone for your patience and support.

Looking to the future a bit...

What happens when we upgrade to the new version? Does it wipe out the config data stored on the USB key?

Also, can the USB key image be written from a computer other than the NASLite2 box itself? Or do I have to take the NASLite2 box apart and rehang a CDROM drive? In other words, is the data that is written to the USB key the same for all installations, or is the data written to the USB key customized for the hardware of the box that booted the NASLite CDROM?

.

Leave the NAS box running and just pull the key out. Do the upgrade install on the key and don't worry about the config data. After the key is reloaded with the ne software just reinsert it and goto the console and save the config to the key. Then reboot.

So the data written to the USB key is always the same and not dependent on the hardware in the box that the CDROM booted on?

Very cool! Thanks.
