You still have not confirmed that power management is turned OFF in the BIOS. In addition, all unnecessary devices (COM, LPT, Sound, etc.) should be disabled so the board can provide sufficient IRQs.

NASLite will not run properly on hardware that is buggy or not properly configured. The problem that you are describing is often associated with buggy power management or shared IRQs, so make sure that those are taken care of.

Another item to pay attention to is to turn PnP OS off in the BIOS and reset the hardware settings after all unnecessary devices are disabled.

NASLite has very low requirements, but does need a stable system in order to do it’s job.

I've disabled all the extraneous stuff in the BIOS (Serial, Parallel, etc). For those keeping score, this machine is an old Dell Precision Workstation 410 w/BIOS A14.

I also have a 410 w/A14, 1 gig ram, dual PIII 800's, SCSI CD and IDE CD/DVD drives. It also has a Promise 100TX2 with the HD attached to it. I just tested it using v2.01 and it came up fine. Everything is still "turned on" in the BIOS. So I'm not sure what the issue is but I will say the 410's do have some quirks.

I'm having this problem also.

Dell Precision 210 MT
A10 BIOS
500MHz PIII
Maxtor IDE 20GB drive
256Meg ECC RAM

I've tried all the above suggested solutions, but still can't get it to work.

Is there any chance the CDD version will get around this problem? Will I be able to trade my USB version for the CDD version?

In the end I bit the bullet and went back and brought NASLite+ CDD, and it installed without a hitch.

Now I'm just waiting for v2.01 CDD :)

So I now have 3 versions of NASLite (USB v1.x, USB v2.0, CDD v1.x) but only one works.

Is there any chance of a refund on the two USB versions? I haven't used either of the USB version keys.

Will be giving this a go tonight with my v2.01 USB version, seeing as v1.x CDD works without this error:

The easiest way to boot NASLite-2 from cdrom whilst using the normal USB stick is by burning a CD with Nero Burning Rom although others might work as well.

- Plug the USB stick which you flashed with the NASLite-2 OS into the windows PC.
- Open Nero, Choose New Bootable CDROM.
- On the "boot" tab you can choose a logical drive (must be smaller then a CD!) and it will normally list A:\
Select the USB stick here (In my case E:\
- Press "new" on the right.
- Drag the file from the USB stick (In my case E:\) to the cdrom compilation.
- Burn the disk

You can now boot from the CDROM and leave the configuration part on the USB stick. Floppies should die.

Also, on this Asus A7V mainboard the panasonic DOS USB driver triggers Standby. So the DOS USB Kicker was useless.

Thanks databeestje ;)
