I burned the CD, built the USB stick, determined that I needed the kicker floppy, built that, but when I boot I get a screen that looks like this:

LINLD v0.97
Kernal command line:
root=/dev/ram0 rw
High mem corrupted - not exiting to DOS

Then the system hangs. I took out the 64MB of installed memory and swaped it with another, but same error on boot.

Is this indicitative of a hardware failure, or something else?

Thanks!

When booting with a kicker, 64M of RAM is not sufficient. Increase the RAM slightly and the system will boot without a problem.

Hope that helps.

Oops. I must have missed that somewhere. I'll plug in 128MB and give it a go.

Thanks!

That did the trick.

Thanks Tony!

Actually, you didn't miss it since it isn't mentioned anywhere ;-)

We didn’t run into that until after the manual was complete. Having the two operating systems in RAM at boot time left insufficient decompression space for the kernel and initrd with only 64M total. It will boot in 92M (with 4M in shared video RAM), so it’s close but we haven’t tested for a more precise boundry.
