NASLite+ v1.4 and NASLite+ for USB Flash v1.4 are now available for download. Changes from v1.3 are as follows:
    - Increase root size to 8MB RAM Disk
    - Update status info generator to accommodate changes
    - Perform general code cleanup
The v1.3 release was tightly packed into a 4MB RAM Disk. Although that may be perfectly acceptable in most cases, under certain conditions the SMB/CIFS file locking may require more root filesystem space than available. In order to eliminate that possibility, the root filesystem RAM Disk was increased from 4MB to 8MB. That update is now released as v1.4

Thank you for your support.

Well, I made a mistake of putting 1.4 on my Dell USB key which worked fine with 1.0 or maybe 1.1 and now my server does not boot. For superfloppy it says boot fail, and for the bootable partition it prints

USBX: DX=0000 int13,8cx=e730 dx=........ and one more line of garbage like such.

Where can I download the 1.0 or 1.1 again?

Thanks,
Vadim

Judging from your “drive error” post, you are using an SIS chipset board. Those usually have an AMI BIOS which I know for a fact can boot v1.4 without a problem. Use Option 2 and remake the USB Flash drive. Check the BIOS and make sure that it’s properly set to boot from USB HD. That should work.

Versions 1.0 and 1.1 are no longer distributed.

Hi,
I am using a SIS chipset board. I used option 2 to create bootable partition on my DELL usb stick. (that stick used to work with 1.0 or 1.1 I do not recall exactly). Now, system does not boot off of that stick as well as the sandisk 64mb stick. I had no luck for either options 1 or 2 for booting of the existing system.

I triple checked all the bios settings. USB Enabled. USB dos support enabled. Boot sequence: 1. USB HDD, 2. USB CDROM, 3. USB FDD. Boot from other devices = Enabled.

These options above have not changed, but just in case I reset CMOS and re-typed them in. Still no go.

For now, I have no access to my backed up data - which I need access to.

Can you for the time being email me a link or an attachment of the old image of 1.0 and/or 1.1? I really need access to my data.

Vadim

PS Interesting observation, is that v1.4 on my stick does work with my dell poweredge server which is relatively new, thus I know that the stick is flashed properly. Is it possible that the motherboard that I have been using for past 8 month, only likes 1.1. flavor?

Until you resolve the problem can you not boot from the floppy version so that you can then access your data?

You will also be able to access your data if you boot the machine with something like Knoppix. You will be able to connect to another Windows machine on your network and move files over, but this probably does require some Linux experience.

Well, the machine has 4 drives, mobo, powersupply and a case. A usb solution was the only one acceptable at the time. I can also use a USB cd-rom.

I emailed Tony for version 1.0 as that was the one I originally used. Version 1.1 did not work in the super floppy or a partition mode. I was beginning to think it was the usb stick, but these versions do allow me to boot another server, so I am pretty sure that my set up only works with 1.0, which I know is crazy.

just to give an update the motherboard was corrupt and worked partially with v1.0, and not any other version. I've just replaced the motherboard and v1.4 as well as v1.0 work perfectly.

vadim_s,

Its always the way, more often then not its a hardware problem which causes naslite not to work correctly. I have seen a number of posts like this where someone has updated and then there is a problem. unless you got spare hardware its hard to rule out what is at fault.

I remember when I purchased naslite a few days later my server was playing up, from locking up to rebooting, it would have been easy to blame naslite but it turned out to be the CPU and it was new.
