For some reason I am unable to play music on my Xbox 360 streamed via my NASLite-M2 (v1.02 03-2009) Server.

On my Xbox 360 (all updates installed); if I go to 'My Xbox' > 'Music Library' > {NASLite Server}, then regardless of whether I browse by Albums, Artists, Saved Playlists, Songs or Genres I get the following screen. A list of 1000 songs:

I would of imagined that if I choose to browse by Artists then I should of got a list of Artists, if I choose to browse by Albums then I should of got a list of Albums, but no, I just get the above.
Also no matter what song I select, it doesn't play. And my library should be made up of 279 Artists / 650 Albums / 7965 Songs.

On my NASLite Server my Music is located in the following filing structure:
/Disk-1/MEDIA/MUSIC/{Artist}/{Album}/{*.mp3}

UPNP is switched On and has the following options set:

(Screen shot taken after Configuration has been saved and NASLite server has been restarted)

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Are the files presented using filenames or tag information? It could be that the 360 cannot read the tags on your music.

I'll need to double check when I get home from work.
But it looks like the songs listed in screen shot are displayed using the filename.
Although it’s a bad example as it’s a shot of a compilation album.

My compilation albums have the following file structure:
/Disk-1/MEDIA/MUSIC/- Compilations -/Shrek 2/01 Counting Crows - Accidentally In.mp3

Tag info for the above track would be:
Artist - “- Compilations -“
Album - “Shrek 2”
Album Artist - “- Compilations -“
Song - “Counting Crows - Accidentally In Love”
Track - “01”

As my Compilation albums are structured/tagged differently from the rest of my albums, I’ll remove them altogether from the equation by removing the “- Compilation -“ folder from my NASLite server and then run a upnp rescan when I get home.

I ran across the same problem in iTunes where the ID3 tag wasn't being indexed by NASLite. From what I could tell, the problems may have been with the ID3 version, as all offending files were v2.4. In my case, rolling back to ID3 v2.3 restored indexing of those files. The best solution I have found to accomplish this is to use either a utility called Media Rage (Mac) or importing the files into iTunes (Mac or PC) from a shared NASLite folder to change the ID3 version number.

Still no joy.

I removed all the music that I had located in; /Disk-1/MEDIA/MUSIC/ and copied across one artist with two albums, like so:

All the MP3's have an ID3 tag version of 2.3:

I then logged into NASLite and done a UPNP Reindex.
Went to my Xbox 360 a few minutes later, browsed to 'My Xbox' > 'Music Library' > {NASLite Server}, and I got the following, it appears to have listed all the songs then all the pictures:

On a side note my Pictures and Videos stream and play fine on the Xbox.

I have noticed that when I use PlugPlayer (UPNP Renderer) on my iPhone, that my NASLite server doesn't appear to be dishing out the MP3 tag information. But when I select my other Linux server with Mediatomb (not xbox compatible) running, I get the correct info:

BTW thanks for the replies so far guys, much appreciated.

Forgot to add that streaming by DAAP is fine.

Will remove my mp3's again this evening and try a couple of wma's this time.

Stumbled across this, sounds like I have the similar problem as this guy, although he ended up patching ushare:

Any other suggestions?

EDIT: streaming only wma's doesn't work either, same story as with mp3's.

Have you had any luck with the MP3 tags since?

I'm using NasLite-M2 v1.62 streaming to my PS3 with the same lack of tags and sorting/grouping by such.

I have no idea what version the tags are but will look into that sometime soon.

Hi,

Any resolution to this.
I have finally got NASLite-M2 to stream music (mainly mp3s) to the Xbox 360 but
can't sort by album/artist/song etc., just get a line listing of songs, and am getting a 1,000 item limit (I have c. 6,000 tunes)
