detailed functioning of NAS
i need help regarding understanding the functioning of NAS as how it works to store the data in the networks.i know the protocols used in it but i want to know its proper functioning under each protocol.like NFS and CIFS that takes place in practical usage.kindly help...

Pardon, but this sounds like a school assignment to me. All the info you need is on the web, even the underlying code is there for you to take apart. Each one of the protocols has an healthy and active support base and most have extensive tutorials on the function and the use of them under the Linux/Unix kernels.

The information you ask is kind of out of the scope of these forums.

You see, that is just the thing. A NAS is simply an OS with services running to export volumes. In some cases they are secured and have access control, in others they are simply open to the networks users. In the case of NASLite, you need to look at the Linux kernel as well as the Daemons that run on it like Samba and NFS. If you looked on the web then you didn't look very hard because there is a link on the NASLite web site to the open source apps used in the build per the GNU requirements.

Again, I am not going to take time to help with a school assignment when there is so much info literally at your finger tips as to over load one. Sorry!
