Pls forgive the dummy question. I have a couple of NASLITE 2 licenses, which I have stopped using when I bought a ReadyNAS PRO. Now I am thinking of resurrecting the NASLITE 2 box and using it to backup the ReadyNAS.

Can NASLITE 2 act as an rsync target, without any Linux type fiddling? I would like to use the ReadYNAS to copy its files via rsync but only if this is not too difficult to set up.

Thanks in advance,

According to the manual it can be done,
they use 2 naslite machines to sync one to the other
but I think that for the "recipient" it doesn't matter who sends the data
as long as the service is setup correctly

Thanks. What's involved in setting up correctly for rsync?

NASLite sets the mirror details on the destination drive, so if you are interested in backing up a ReadyNAS volume to a NASLite disk, it can be done. The only two prerequisites are that the rsync export on the ReadyNAS is of the format Disk-X (where X is a number) and that access permission are relaxed and permissive. Once that is done, as far as NASLite can tell, it is mirroring another NASLite volume.

Thanks for the quick response. I'll give it a try...
