Hi,
Can anybody tell me how to update/upgrade my nasLITE 2.0.6 CD to 2.1.0 without a monitor connected?
I have tried to just pop the new CD inside the nas but that did not work. There is a keyboard connected so that might help.
Telnet did not work.
Please help, cause i can't reach the nas to connect a monitor to it.
Thanks.

You can take the hard drive out and install the 2.10 on it on any PC. Then just put the hard drive back in. When it boots it checks what system it's running on.

I guess this will work on a update 2.06 to 2.10 too.

You can all so buy VGA extension cords. It that would help to hook a monitor to it.

Thanks Raymond for your reply.
The only problem is that i use a cd to boot from. So installing naslite on an hd means that i need to change the boot drive in the bios (maybe also loosing all data on that drive). My nas is on a strange location so a long cable is not really possible. I really need to bring the whole box to a monitor witch is an extreme hassle.
But thanks for thinking with me.

Replace the 2.06 CD with the new 2.10 CD and reboot. Without any intervention the new CD-ROM will boot NASLite-2 directly from the CD and load your previous configuration from the existing floppy disk. You should then be able to access the server via TELNET. Save the settings to update the configuration and reboot. That should be it.

Thanks Tony,
I did try that but that did not work. After a minute or two of rebooting the system sits idle. Than I waited 15 minutes and tried to connect with telnet but server was not found?? Do I need to press a key or so at first boot?
Thanks in advance.

I just burned the ISO to a CD-RW to try things out
It's just like Tony said, boot from the cd
without interaction the CD version starts, trying to get the config file from the floppy

I just used the pc I burned the iso with to test it
so there are no drives mounted, no config file found, just a naked nas

Best thing to do is boot your cd in another machine
to see if it works or not
(you know you have to burn the image, not the contents of the file?)

if this is OK, i think you have no choise then to attach a keyboard and screen to the nas.
if you get some ps-2 and vga extension cables you have easy acces to the ports,
and you can leave the extension cables plugged in

I am also trying to do this. I use Telnet on vista x64 and I just wanted to upgrade my NAS to version 2.10.
I do not have a video card or onboard vga, so the ability to attach an lcd is out.
Upgrading is not a priority, I wanted to know how to do this for reference more than absolute necessity.
