Hi,

I'm completely "NEW" to NASLite and the whole NAS server routine. It's all greek.

I installed NasLite on a 60 gig hard drive.

On the Server Storage page it shows:

DISK TOTAL USED FREE STATUS* S.M.A.R.T. USAGE
System 7.7M 4.7M 3.0M Unavail. Unavail. use61%

Three things I need some advice on:
1. Does this mean that NASLite ONLY used (partition) 7.7m of this 60 gig hard drive.
2. Can the remaining portion of this drive be partition and formatted for data.
3. If I can partition this drive; How do I partition the drive and create two additional directories; one for music and one for photos.

THANKS in advance for your help.

CarolinaGuy

1: Yes;
2: Partitioned: No; Formatted for data: Yes;
3: N/A.

The 7.7M partition you can see is the NASLite-2 boot partition. The remainder of the disc is available as you surmised.

3. You just brows the disk with explorer and create the directories that way. NL does not allow you to create multiple partitions on the same disk and give them names.

THANKS, I really appreciate your response.

One more question? Is there any limits on the numbers of folders or the number of files within a folder. Also can you have sub-folders?

None that you're going to be able to hit, the limits are going to be with WinBlows. For all intents and purposes it is like any other windows machine sharing a drive or drives.
