New user of NasLite here, just installed this weekend. Everything's up and running perfectly an our old Compaq computer.

Just one question (I searched the user guide and forum and couldn't find any references). What is the Lost+Found folder for on each mounted disk? Can it be deleted?

Thanks for your assistance.

I believe the Lost+found folder has nothing to do with Windows, its a folder used by linux for filesystem checks.

The lost+found folder is part of the ext2/3 filesystem. It is created when you first format a disk in NASLite or after a disk check where filesystem fixes were performed. It's function is as a catch-all for files that have been recovered by filesystem repair but have no recoverable path. In a way, it is similar to the CHK files created by Check Disk in Windows.

You can safely delete the lost+found folder since it serves no practical purpose during normal operation. Currently, it is not accessible by the NAS user, but that will change in upcoming releases.

Hope that helps

Then what the hell was I thinking of! :?:  :?:

Note to self, do not post after a few strong beers and failure to check ones facts. Sorry, I stand corrected and was obviously thinking of something totally different.
