I have a box that is in need of being replaced and was wondering how hard it will be to take the drive out of it and put into the new box without formating it? They have ton's of data on the old drive.

No problem at all, I have done it a few times with no hitches. You may have the drive numbers change though depending on the controller channels that you plug the drives into.

Same here. Your files will be safe. Just move the drives to the new box, boot, configure and you should see the shares.
