My nas server is off most of the time. When I start it with WOL from a wintel machine on the network the mapped drives to the nas still show as 'disconnected'. I need to double click them to get windows to recognize theyre available.

The problem with this is that I have an app on my windows box that plays the dvd's on the nas, there is a link to WOL the naslite server but the app apparently reads that windows says disconnected drives and fails to connect. I need to close the app, double click the drives(so they dont say disconnected any more), then re-open the app for it to work. Is there some way to get windows to not show disconnected, or possibly to discover the drive is available shortly after nas box comes back online.

Hope this makes sense, tough to explain.

The fix has to be implemented on the Windows client machine. Perhaps you can script a check for share availability prior to your app accessing the content.
