Just wanted to know what RAID cards are supported in version 2

I have a couple of 3ware sata raid cards now.. and would like to put one of them to good use.

Cheers

I have used 7500-8, 8500-12 and 8506-12 - but I believe that all 7xxx-xx and 8xxx-xx cards are supported.

Not yet, I believe - however, I understand that the next version / major update may be based on the 2.6.xx kernel rather than the 2.4.xx kernel (like NASLite-2), so you may have more joy then.

any idea as to when the release date might be.. I'd love to use this product.. as it's exactly what i'm looking for... but I only have 9000 series cards..
1 9000 series 8 port
1 9000 series 12 port

also.. do you know if there is a limitation to the storage array size.?
BTW.. thanks for the quick responses.. !!!

The max size of an individual drive (RAID, whatever) will be limited to the max for the operating system, i.e. linux. I know my 3Ware and Adaptec cards are limited to 2TB nett [edit] but that's a hardware limitation [/edit].

ok.. so it's limited to the OS and the cards... the 3ware cards I have can handle 1TB drives... any idea if the current/future OS can handle that "load"

Cheers

You could create a 3 x 1TB > 2TB nett RAID5 with 1TB drives.... :)

so if I have and 8 port card.. and can use 8 1 TB drives.... @ RAID5

If the card (supported) is the interface to the volume... and the kernel is not limited to volume size.. I'm good to go...

That being said.. I just need to figure out what the current limitations are to the OS.

any ideas as to when the next version will be released?

Cheers

You could look at the 2.x RLS board to get an idea of historical RLS timeframes:
