Help

I purchased naslite-2 USB last summer and installed with a:

512USB flash drive,
EPIA Mini-ITX motherboard (EPIA-V),
512MB Ram,
ADAPTEC 2410as SATA RAID (4 Port) and
4X 500GB Seagate SATA Drives configured for RAID 10 for a total of 1.4TB.

I worked fine for the last few months, until yesterday when I rebooted always stops at

“Checking files system (Disk-0) [busy]”

And stays there for ever, ADAPTEC diagnostics shows no problems with drives and no message from SMART.
In the past added journal to drive as pr forums recommendation.

Any suggestions?

Let it run the FS check on the drives. NL is not verbose as far as what is happening at times like this but it is running an FS check in all likely hood. This can take allot of time if the drive is fairly large. Unless the logs show you that the system is having problems just let it sit and it should come up later.

Hi Mkie:

Thank you for the replay, Is the FS check running when you get the message:
“Checking files system (Disk-0)------->[busy]”
If so, it has ran for 24hours! and then I get a blank screen, any other tip?

This is for Tony:

Please need advice on this problem, last thing done was to disable data scrubbing on the Adaptec 2410SA SATA Raid card.
Thank you.

Yes and it shouldn't take 24 hours to run for one disk. I would try going back to the settings that worked on the Adaptec card and see if it works then.

Fixed! Tony recommended the following and worked:

Once the system boots, set the drive to park (--) so it is not mounted on reboot. Then reboot and enter the admin menu. Once there, go to the storage menu, select the storage drive (I think Disk-0 in your case) and pick the Check and Repair option. Don't pick bad block checking since you are running a RAID. Let the test do it's job and peek at it periodically to see if it asks any questions. At the end you will see a summary of items that were handled.
Once done, if all goes well you should be able to set the partition back to RW so it gets mounted on reboot.
Anyway, give that a try. 1.5T is a lot of 1s and 0s to check.
***********
It took 4.5 Hours for the FS Check and the Adaptec Synchronization utility took 36 Hours! but it worked.

Thank You Tony,
OPUS

Hello,

I have exactly the same behavior, and now I understand that a normal situation. Naslite verify the disk at least once a week, just when I need it : during the wack up of the systeme. I turn off the system every night. If I turn on the server, and never stop it, is this verification done with the same periodicity ?What is your recommandation ? (I use the server at home for 3 hours, and durinbg the week end till 12 hours).

Thanks for your help,
Jean-Marie

If you leave the system on it will not ceck the drives.
That is only done every 20 mounts or reboots
It can appear tat the system checks more often if you have multiple drives attached
you can "sync" the ceckpoint like this:
get in the storage menu
do a check and repair for every drive
save config
reboot

good luck
