I just installed NASlite-2 on a small HDD. For storage I want to use 3ware 9650SE SATA RAID controller, which gets recognised in a bios boot process.
I did configure 3 hdd as raid5.
But, NS does not recognise the controller. Any idea?

In the logs I did find an evidence.
Mar 18 22:29:00 user.info kernel: SCSI subsystem driver Revision: 1.00
Mar 18 22:29:00 user.info kernel: Loading Adaptec I2O RAID: Version 2.4 Build 5
Mar 18 22:29:00 user.info kernel: Detecting Adaptec I2O RAID controllers.
Mar 18 22:29:00 user.info kernel: Red Hat/Adaptec aacraid driver (1.1-3 Aug 12 2007 09:05:44)
Mar 18 22:29:00 user.warn kernel: scsi: Detection failed (no card)
Mar 18 22:29:00 user.notice kernel: megaraid: v2.10.10.1 (Release Date: Thu Jan 27 16:19:44 EDT 2005)
Mar 18 22:29:00 user.warn kernel: GDT-HA: Storage RAID Controller Driver. Version: 3.04
Mar 18 22:29:00 user.warn kernel: GDT-HA: Found 0 PCI Storage RAID Controllers
Mar 18 22:29:00 user.warn kernel: 3ware Storage Controller device driver for Linux v1.02.00.037.
Mar 18 22:29:00 user.warn kernel: 3w-xxxx: No cards found.

May be the driver is wrong?

I don't believe it is supported in the 2.4 kernel, only in the 2.6.xx and since NL is built on the 2.4.xx kernel you are out of luck for the time being.

However, given the excellent existing support for 3Ware 7xxx & 8xxx RAID cards, I would take it as read that Tony & Ralph will include these newer cards in the kernel 2.6.xx version of NASLite. Just to make sure, ask them nicely.....

No doubt that they will include the series of cards in the next release of NL. If they don't they would be crazy.

It doesn't help me right now, because I need it today not in a few month.

Well, for good or bad things just don't happen that fast in NL. You may want to go with a different flavor of Linux that does include the drivers you need and setup the shares yourself.

A good thing i'd say. I build a server today, it's destined to remain as is for a few years with upgrades only as required.
