HELP! I got the NAS box set up, but I cannot get it to "talk" to my network. My setup is very basic:
- Windows 2k box
- Unbuntu Linux box
- NAS box
- Linksys wireless router

I've noticed the following peculiarities:
- the linux box and the windows box can ping each other successfully
- neither the linux box or the windows box can ping the NAS
- the NAS cannot ping either of the windows or linux machines
- when I browse for a server to connect to on my linux box, I see "NAS1-ftp" as a choice (my NAS is named "NAS1"), but when I click on it, it is unsuccessful in creatting a connection
- my windows box cannot see the NAS at all.

Please help! I've spend so much time trying to get this NAS to work, I'm bordering on insanity. Thanks!

Paul

Naslite would talk to anything when properly set, so make sure you set it up correctly. If you can ping it, then check and see if you can get to the status screen by typing the ip in a browser. Follow the manual if you are not clear on what needs to be done. It is a pretty easy read.

I've read the manual. No enlightenment there. In the network configuration menu, I have the workgroup set as the same name as my windows workgroup. I've tried pinging the IP I've set in the NAS menu, and nothiing happens. Furthermore, the NAS is not able to make any outgoing pings. Yes, it's plugged in to my router. Yes, it is using a unique IP address. What could I be doing wrong? Thanks!

Okay. Nevermind. I got it figured out. I had a mismatch in one part of the subnet. All machines are talking nicely now.

HOWEVER... I have a new problem. I'll start a new thread for that.
