This may sound odd, but I made the payment via Paypal on Monday, so far didn't get any response. I assume that I would be informed some kind of download link via email? I sent inquiries to sales@ceenet.com (their Paypal email) twice, and sales@serverelements.com once, never got any response. Did I misss something?

Hi,

The mail may have been stuck on you spam filter.

Go to this link and fill in the part LOST DOWNLOAD LINK RETREIVAL. You should get the mail rapidly. Check for your spam filters first.

Regards.

Our spam filter only redirects mail to a different folder (which I checked), never blocks or deletes anything. Besides, I received email from address ralph@xxxxxxx after I registered to this forum. Why can't download link email reach me? Can you PM me the link?

Your mail server is blocking us. This is typical spam filter behavior.

I've edited certain portions of the email address in the bounce message.

Since I already stated that I can receive email from your ralph@xxxx address, (how did you think I activated this forum account?) spending one more minute to forward me the download link from that address would be a lot nicer. Spending time to prove customer wrong won't be very rewarding. Besides, don't assume that everyone has the authority over their corporate firewall/spam filter. We are using many Open-e licenses in our datacenter, and I was given a budget to find alternatives. Compared to Open-e, NASLite is practically free to us. Now please consider the potential sales you will get (unless you don't care much about that), do the right thing.
One more tip, if our mail server is blocking you, I bet there will be much more others do the same. Because we just don't manually block certain domains or IPs. If my client is not receiving our email, my boss will be so mad. There is always a way to get off certain black lists, or whatever list it is.

How about sending us a email address that will work.

Also, I'd like to point out, in the email I sent you (before you ever posted here), I explained that you could re request your download link, it should have been obvious to respond back to me about the issue after you didn't get the download link, however you choose to disregard my direct email and post here and inform us about how your email server doesn't block emails.

BTW : I've edited my email address from your post, thanks for that professionalism.

You just don't get it, do you??? The ONLY email I got from you is the forum activation email. There was NEVER anything else related to the purchase or download link. And how difficult it is to PM me the link?
BTW, you have been VERY professional.

Sir,

This whole situation and your aggressiveness is becoming extremely suspect, I do not understand why you have made this so difficult.

Server Elements policy is to distribute download links thru the registered Paypal account's email address used at purchase or an updated email address from the buyer with proof of purchase (our download email or Paypal's receipt), not thru private messages or any other means.

I've asked you to provide another email address and you're still resisting.

At this point you have one option with us, forward the receipt email you received from Paypal to us, along with an alternate email address to receive our emails, so we may update our database.

Please find below our sendmail log showing your mail server accepting my email. Edited for privacy.

Jan 16 19:57:19 ns1 sendmail[1074]: m0H0vJx01074: from=<ralph@serverelements.xxx>, size=7191, class=0, nrcpts=1, msgid=<4710817B-90FE-4A86-9BFC-FD4F08B1343C@serverelements.com>, proto=ESMTP, daemon=MTA, mech=PLAIN, relay=cygnus.serverelements.com [xx.xxx.xx.xx]
Jan 16 19:57:23 ns1 sendmail[1077]: m0H0vJx01074: to=<yiwei@cyberxxx.xxx>, ctladdr=<ralph@serverelements.xxx> (1221/100), delay=00:00:04, xdelay=00:00:00, mailer=esmtp, pri=37191, relay=tigersmailpro01.cyberxxx.xxx. [216.15.185.xx], dsn=2.0.0, stat=Sent (m0H0mP4A020047 Message accepted for delivery)

It also happens to us that our clients' mail servers are blocking/filtering our emails. What we do? We use our alternate email addresses, such as Yahoo, Hotmail, Gmail, whatever it is, to forward the emails, to make sure our customers receive our emails. They already provide us their email address, if it doesn't work for us, WE take the extra step to make it work for us. We don't ask our customers to do more than necessary. We don't request our customers to be more accommodating for us.
Did you mention you only had one option left? How about using YOUR alternate email account to forward the download link to our official Paypal email which has made the payment? It won't take you more than a minute.

The same thing happened to me when I first purchased my copy of NL. Tony sorted it out with a PM a few hours later and all was good. However, even though the SE logs clearly shows that the mail was sent ok, it never reached me and no it did not get stuck in the spam filter either. What happened to the mail? Who knows.. what I do know is, its a situation where the customer did not receive the needed information. Rather than trying to prove the customer wrong with server logs just get the requested information out asap, just like Tony did. If the same information had been posted at a postal office and the customer reports it never arrived, would you show the customer the stamp receipt arguing that it had indeed been sent rather than doing whatever it takes to make sure the customer gets what he/she paid for? Solve the problem as fast as possible rather than pointing fingers, it will save everyone alot of headache and even earn SE some more money in the process :)

Why this is becoming such a hot issue is beyond me but I'll jump in anyway. :?

Ralph and I elected to use PayPal for a reason. It protects our clients as well as us. PayPal also provides a set of rules that when not honored, puts both buyers and sellers at risk. When you use PayPal to buy an item online, the item is shipped only to the PayPal registered address. If you would like to ship to your cousin, you have to register your cousin's address into your PayPal account in order for a vendor to ship to it. Otherwise you are denied shipment. In a similar manner, Server Elements emails (ships) the download instructions to the email address registered to the PayPal account that transfers the payment. That is our policy and is the only way we are protected should we fall victims to fraudulent activity. For the record, we get to deal with fraudulent nonsense on average twice each week. Emails and log entries are all we have to offer as evidence.

Anyway, with that said, it is also important to understand that we have no control over whether someone's account will accept our email or not. All we have control over is our infrastructure which, with no compromise, is fully compliant thanks to Ralph's expertise. So, when we ask for the original PayPal receipt with an alternate email address, sent to us in email, we are not just being difficult or trying to "prove you wrong", all we are doing is keeping clean records in case of problems.

The issue superboss had was associated with Hotmail. There is plenty of documentation of countless lost email instances involving Hotmail. All you have to do is query Google. Google also provided plenty of info on the host cyberygan is using, so I'm sure that in both instances one can easily understand why mail may or may not be getting to it's final destination.

Superboss was a repeat customer and a long time contributor to this forum, so providing the details in a PM was deemed acceptable.

I hope the above makes sense and sheds some light on how we are handling this. I'll let Ralph handle any further transactions pertaining to this issue.

The email address Cybergan used to register on the forum/email request for download link, is not in our database for a purchase, hence my request for the original Paypal reciept.

I was not requesting you to send to my forum registration email, I was requesting you to use YOUR alternate account to forward the link to our offical Paypal email which is in your database.
Admitted, I am no model customer, but such issues only demonstrate your unwillingness to make any effort to serve your clients. You just can't be bothered.
Since we are not gonna use your product due to the apparent reason, we won't be bothering you anymore.
