Hey All,

I have kind of an odd problem that I was hoping someone could shed some light on. I am using NASLite2 USB, and I allowed AFP RW access to 2 arrays. They both work fine, for a while, but all of a sudden certain directories (one in particular) will switch to read only in Leopard. NASLite is still set to RW, but when I go to change the permissions, I can't. This is probably an OSX issue, rather than a NASLite Issue, but I couldn't find any info elsewhere, and I know there's a good community here, and I was wondering if anyone has run tinot this problem before. Its usually the ITunes music directory that has problems, would that have anything to do with it? Thanks a lot,

If memory serves, it's usually one array, and in this specific instance, it is only the music directory on that array, which is designated as the iTunes music folder in iTunes. I have seen other directories on this array become read only, but since then I have both installed Leopard and and a newer version of NASLite 2 USB (2.06) and the only one that suddenly switched to RO this time is the music folder. Again, This seems like it may be an OSX problem?? Either way I appreciate the response. Thank you, -Raia

From the finder do a get info on your itunes music library folder and post the permissions, this will be at the bottom of the get info window under "Sharing & Permissions"

It's a OSX issue, I'm running pretty much the same setup, so we should be able to figure something out.

Ralph,

here is the info you requested. I have attached a screen cap in case this isn't clear.

You have custom access.

(pic of one person) NAS-User - Read&Write
(pic of two people) NAS-User - Read only
(pic of three people) everyone - Read only

Thanks again,

-Raia

Those are the same permissions I have as well.

Is it the Finder or iTunes that is flagging the read only error?

Sorry for the delay in responding. I just want to thank you Ralph, it's great to see someone stand by and support their software the way you guys do. The problem fixed itself about a few months ago, so it looks like it'll be pretty hard to troubleshoot! It has come and gone before, so I waited a little before posting, but a few months later and I still have full r/w permissions. Weird. Thanks again!
