I have 2 500GB hard drives hooked to the naslite server. I want to back these drives to a 1TB WD mybook drive also connected to the nasliet box via USB. I'm planning to using ntbackup, since rsync i believe wont work in this case since 2 seperate drives are being backed up to the same drive. If I run ntbackup from my laptop (wireless) and map all the drive above as shares , will the data travel via the ethernet or just between the drives. Any other options is most welcome.

Thks

It will work, but via wireless it will take a VERY long time to move that much data. The transfer will have to go through the network since you are making a copy.

Tony,

On a different note, is it possible to provide a simple shell with naslite with a list of standard commands.

I did some testing with copy and move inside a "share".

If you MOVE from 1 drive to another via "share", it will NOT go through the LAN and is fast but if you COPY, it seems to take much longer, so I suppose that it goes through the LAN.

Regards
