I've managed to install NASLite on a vm with simple 2gb ide (pre-allocated), 256mb ram with a virtual floppy.

It all goes well until I format the IDE drive, and from there on NASLite refuses to boot, simply hanging just past the bios prompt?

You need to set the BIOS to boot from the CD image first. Not floppy or HD.

Please shoot me, forgot about that - Thanks :lol:

I've now got 2 virtual IDE drives of 1GB each, formatted and journalling turned on but it won't let me mirror, it says:

* - Mirror to Disk-1 [ NONE ]

Did you reboot after formatting the drives?

Yes, I also created a new vm just in case there was something wrong with my setup, the option is completely greyed out, I've entered license and authority code so it must be something i'm doing wrong!

I create the vm (2 x 1GB IDE) , create a floppy image, boot from cd, enter licenses, format drives, check drives, turn on journalling, save configuration, reboot, then try to create a mirror

Ah, I've added another vm fixed drive and noticed the other 2 are not mounted (that doesn't sound good?!)

How do I mount, if you excuse the expression :lol:

I know this is an old post but how has this been performing? I'm curious to try something like this, just for kicks. Would be cool to have a virtual NAS appliance. Easy to deploy etc.

Can't really think of any other benefit, but it would be cool!
