I have the option in the bios set to sleep in 15-minutes, but drives don't go to sleep when I do???

In the admin set the status update to something like 8h and the drives will spin down. The reason the bios is not spinning them down is because the status keeps bumping the drives every minute resetting the inactivity counter. That is usually fine for a server, but home users can safely set the update time to 8h and the timeout in the bios to 30 minutes or whatever.

Word of caution, spinning the drives on and off is more damaging than spinning them fulltime.
