NASLite Network Attached Storage

I got the little Mini-ITX board. A EPIA-500AG

I have NASLite-2 HDD running on it with 512 MB of ram in it and a 320 GB boot hard drive.

It's not showing any log it's all blank.

When I got to it's folders all I get is:

Shares
Status

Should I get Disk-0 too? Were is the rest of the space on the hard drive?

I all ready did the format and it looked good like it seen the full size of the 320 GB hard drive.

SMART is blank too but in the telnet it says it's on.

Is the drive mounted ("RW" or "RO" as opposed to "--")?

No it was not in the mode so I turned it on. But I had to format it. In telnet I was pressing the wrong thing the letter o and cap o but found it was 0. Wile it was formating this hard drive this is about 2 years old with about 2 years run time on it I herd a loud click sound over and over. I turned the hard drive on it's side and it stopped and the format number was going about 1 number per sec. Slow. I took a nap and when I got up it said it was done and need to reboot and now it shows Disk-0

It's still saying on the http page:

STATUS* and S.M.A.R.T. both UNAVAILABLE.

USAGE is USED 51% that's System disk. I guess it's not showing the storage part.

I don't know should I start all over. Maybe slow format the hole hard drive? It's not showing Disk-0 in Server Storage but it's in the samba folder and I even made a test folder on it.

O I just seen in telnet I had to "7 - Apply Journal to Disk-0 Filesystem"

Now in telnet it shows:



But in http it only shows the System disk and still the syslog is blank. Even after a reboot.

O it was Windows Internet Explorer. I had to hold down Shift then do a Refresh. Now I can see Disk-0 in it and the system log after I did a shift Refrest on it.

I am going to do a just to see if it's all good.

Yeah, you have to mind the browser cache.

With the drive clicking and the slow format I'd be a bit worried. If you are going to run a filesystem check on it, I'd suggest you do a complete check and repair with bad block scanning, That may take a long time but is worth the hassle if your media is suspect.

How do I do a bad block scanning? I did do:

3 - Storage Configuration
0 - Disk-0, IDE-0-0-0-0
5 - Check Disk-0 Filesystem

It came back and said all was good.

It says "Status: DISK IS MOUNTED!" How do I unmount it to do a "* - Check and Repair Disk-0 Filesystem"?

I have made a case for this and install it in it and it's booted up now mounted in the case. I have to make a mount for the hard drive yet and a screen to go over the top of it. But it's nice and small. I will post photos very soon here of what I did all ready. I have to paint it yet too.

I looked on here for "unmount" and in the Manual. The only place in the manual said this:



But mine has a * not 6. I press * thinking it would say it's going to unmount to detec and repair the hard drive.

Is there any way to unmount it to do a Check and Repair Disk?

I had to go to STORAGE CONFIGURATION MENU:

0 - Disk-0, IDE-0-0-0-0

Then:

1 - Export Disk-0 [ RW ] (RW, RO, --)

Change that to --

Go to:

GENERAL STORAGE OPTION MENU

1 - Export Disks Default [ RW ] (RW, RO, --)

Set that to --

Reboot

Then Status: DISK IS NOT MOUNTED

I could then run:

4 - Check and Repair Disk-0 Filesystem

It came back:

e2fsck 1.27 (8-Mar-2002)
Checking for bad blocks (read-only test): 2549184/ 78140160

The 1st number has to go as high as the last number.

After about 2 hours it came back and said:



I guess all is good then.
