If it's any consolation, I get the "eee1394:sbp2: Driver forced to Serialize IO" error on several mboards, including a '99 Dell V400C Dimension, a Dell '98 Optiplex and an ECS K7S5A (running an AMD CPU) .

All no probs, it boots thru that status message fine. (none have firewire).

I found some bad IDE cables caused grief for a short while, replaced with some flat ribbon 80 wire and naslite was happy.

Back to basics, have you changed CDROM (disk and reader)?

were you able to save the settings to the floppy? I mean, did you see the floppy led go on and can you hear the disk spin and all that. If you are having config problems, then the floppy disk, drive, cable or controller may be the culprit. :?

I had previously saved the config to the floppy OK.

It was only when I tried to configure and save the network settings that things went down hill fast

Thx

I am giving up with this ..... very disappointing.... I cannot get past thsi final stage of of the load, everything seems OK, but as soon as I put in the license number it stalls on the subsequent boot after the message indicating the license number. Not sure if it's anything to do with the Ethernet port, cannot find anything wrong with it. If I configure the system including the network elements and check network status I get a message indicating that it can't find the ethernet port or... similar not sure how to get around this ....

Hello John,

If you are confident that the hardware is fully functional, then the problem can likely be resolved in the BIOS. In many cases disabling PnP and resetting the hardware will allow the board to reallocate IRQs, preventing the hardware from misbehaving.

Hope that helps...

Hello,

Well all the hardware appears to work under XP. although I must admit the nvidia ethernet driver for this is part of the Motherboard support disk which is loaded after XP is initial put on the system.

Anyway tried the idea of disabling PnP again but no joy ...

Does NASLite issue an error when you try to save the configuration? If so, what is it?

Do you have an external NIC handy? If so, disable the on-board NIC and try booting with an add-on instead.
