have 4 hard drives in the system - 2 ide - 2 sata - sometimes on bootup all 4 mount cleanly and naslite is up and running quickly

other times one of the drive does nor mount and naslite does its disc checking thing - which on a 250gig drive can take a while

its random - never the same drive as last time and at the moment all i am doing is sorting out reliabillity of the cf card so am not even writing to the disc

just to follow up with specifics - earlier totay on a boot up disc 4 was not 'clean' and the file system had to be checked

3 or 4 more boot up all 4 discs fine

just turned it on again and now disc 1 is being checked

as i say nothing is being written to the discs

so the obvious question can checking be turned off

naslite checks the drives every 20 boots or so
if you added drives on different times, the bootcount for every drive
will be different, so the drives will be checked intermittend
I think.......

You can set the count by doing a Check and Repair on all drives at one time. Set the drives to idle, save, reboot, do the check and repair, set the drives to RW, save and reboot. That will put all drives to the same count.

Yeah, you can use a live CD like knoppix and use tune2fs to tweak things.
