I just bought a new segate 250gig ide drive to use with naslite2, its running on an asus a7a266 board with an athlon xp 800mhz, 256mb ddr ram. the bios detects the drive as 250gig, and so does the smart report, but when i format it, it only comes out as a 126gig drive. I've tried turning off the auto detect in the bios, but that didn't fix it either.

anyhelp would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

well, it looks like i found my answer. it probably my ali ide controller on the motherboard. it was a problem with naslite and looks like its carried over to naslite 2. sucks for me, don't really feel like buying a whole new board/cpu/ram just to make this work. might as well buy a standalone product.

here's the naslite board post that discussed it.

anyone else have this problem, and is there a solution that doesn't involve spending more money on hardware? would a pci ide controller fix this?

Look in the hardware ref manual and search for the pci IDE controller cards, probably $15-20.
