NASLite Network Attached Storage

Hi,

I have a couple of HDs ( 8 ) which already contains the data I want to share.
a) Is it possible to add the HDs without formatting? Otherwise I need to
transfer all data twice ...

b) Is the NAS server limited to 4 HDs ? Because my case can afford till 8
disks (would be a waste of place )

a) Your disks are probably formatted in FAT or NTFS. Naslite uses Linux (Unix) ext3 formatting. This is why you have to reformat. If your disks were already in ext2 or ext3 format then you wouldn't have to reformat.

b) Naslite V2 supports as many disks as you can connect to your motherboard's disk (IDE, SATA) ports. You can also add Hardware Raid controllers or IDE/SATA PCI boards to get additional ports.
I currently have a server with 13 disks.
You will find that the limit is usually case space AND powersupply support.
