After installing Vista Business on one of my test systems, I found out very quickly that Vista will not talk to my NASLite+ server. I get the following error message from Vista:
"\\NASLITE is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.
A remote procedure (RPC) protocol call error occurred"
I found this solution being offered up in several online forums that seems to work with other NAS systems including Buffalo's. Other NAS providers are offering free firmware updates for Vista. The work-around consists of modifying the local security policy for LAN Manager" authentication level. Once there, change the Setting from "Send NTLMv2 response only" to "Send LM & NTLM -- use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated." See the following link for more info:

The above solution does not seem to work with the version of SAMBA used in NASLite+. I have not tested NASLite2 with Vista. Any chance of an upgrade patch from Server Elements for NASLite+ users? There are also some serious security issues reported in the older versions of SAMBA, another good reason to update it.
Thanks,
