I just switched from NasLite-SMB (floppy) to the NasLite + (CD-Rom) and in doing so my network card (Realtek 8139) no long will function with it. When NasLite + tries to start the network services it fails. It looks like during bootup it tried to load some intel drivers, rather than the realtek drivers. I had absolutely no problem with this NIC when running regular Naslite from the floppy disk. I switched to a different PCI network card...different manufacturer...and it NASLite+ works fine.

Any ideas? I have more realtek 8139's around I'd like to be able to use.

Also....I'd like a better idea of what gigabit NIC cards are supported by NASLite +......the docs say intel pro 1000 but there aren't any specifics.
Is the Intel PCI Gigabit PWLA8390MTL supported by chance?

Thanks,
Noah

Hm!

I need to look at the 8139 issue. It should work with + if it worked with SMB.

As far as supported Gbit cards, the docs list mostly chipsets, so you'll have to research what chipset the vendor is using to determine if the NIC will work with NASLite+ or not.

Yeah, I thought it was strange also. Lemme know what you find, if anything.

I'll have to research some of the vendors chipsets/models for the Gbit cards.

Thanks Tony.

Well, I have discovered that the problem only exists with the Realtek 8139 Revision A cards. I tried a revision D card in my NASLite + box and it worked fine.

So, regarding the Realtek 8139 cards.
Naslite-SMB
Revision A Works

Naslite +
Revision A Does NOT Work
Revision D works

I would assume that revision D works find in SMB but I'd have to test it. Also I have no idea regarding revisions B and C.

Add this to the list:

Naslite + 1.0
8169 Revision S Does NOT Work either.

Unfortunately I cannot test it on the 1.2 cause my download periode ran out just as it where announced.
