I am a very happy and loyal user of 1.1 version. I upgraded to version 2 and am having problems. I used the CD to make a bootable floppy, following the directions to the letter. When I reboot the machine, with only the floppy, it shows the following message "Remove disk or other media". The configuration was saved to the floppy and it sees all the drives correctly.
If I leave the CD and floppy both in, it will boot to the CD and then load the info from the floppy. I apologize in advance because I must be missing something simple.

I am not sure that I understand clearly what you are describing, so I'll make some assumptions as follows:

You are using NASlite-2 CDD
You have a floppy disk in the floppy drive to use for configuration

If the above is correct, then my guess is that your BIOS is not set to boot from the CD but rather from a floppy. You’ll have to change that. If that is not the case and the PC can’t boot from the CD, then the CD is not properly made or the PC is not capable from booting a CD.

It may be beneficial for you to look at the manual. There is a step-by-step on how to set the CDD version of NASLite-2

Hope that helps.

You need to leave the CD in when booting. The only thing on the floppy is the configuration info. You can't boot NASLite 2 from a floppy.

I think I have it figured out...The CD boots correctly and then looks to the floppy for information. I can only do a 3 drive system with the CD version. If I want to do more than 3 drives I will have to add a controller card?

coolc, What version did you purchase? you see in your post you mention "I used the CD to make a bootable floppy" you can't create a bootable floppy from that version.

if you have the CDD version its a matter of booting the CD first then once booted you throw in a floppy and set the server up then save the config. then reboot. from now on you leave the floppy in the drive so that its config can be read to apply your settings.

With NASLite 2 you can add additional controller cards to connect more drives. It will also work with USB drives.

If you are using NASLite 1.x it only works with the on board IDE controller so you're limited to 4 devices.
