OK, here is the problem. I have a Netgear GA621 card and under NASLite 1.0 it works great. Now I install it on my new NAS box and run NASLite2.0 and boots but I can't even ping any computers on the network. If I boot from the old 1.0 CDROM it works just fine. What gives here. Am I out of luck because they removed the driver for the card on this version?

Mike

Also on a side note, I can't seem to find my download link for my software. Could you be so kind as to resond it to me guys. Thanks!

Hello. Did you disable your new MoBo's onboard Ethernet?

Like the previous post, make sure only one Ethernet Card is enabled as NASLite will pick the first actrive ethernet card. This should also imply that if you plug the cable into the other ethernet port that you should be able to reach.

THe bios is indeed the best place to find this.

Also, if it is the Netgear card that is active, you need to check in the system logs to see if it spouts any errors, duplex mismatches or not working auth negotiation.

Thanks for the reply guys but this isn't my first picnic. There is no on board Enet. The exact same setup works great running NASLite 1.0, 2.0 on the other hand fails to even fully boot with the fibre card in the box. If I change to a 100Mb card like a 3C905 it comes up but is still not reachable in any way. the configuration is saved on the USB key and all but I still can't get to the box.

Any ideas Tony or Ralph?

Also have yet to try the patched versions as I still can't find the DL link. If you could PM it to me that would be great.

Thanks,

Mike

I'm not sure why the GA621 is not working with your 2, but i suspect it's IRQs. Can you get into the admin iface and if so, can you see the network config (Opt-T, Opt-9). Get the IRQ from there and make sure that the BIOS does not share that IRQ with anything else.

Try disabling ACPI in the BIOS, also the usual unused devices...

I'll check and see if there is a change in the driver sources, but I doubt that's the problem. My bet is IRQs...

I'll dig out the link tomorrow when I get back to the office...

Thanks and sorry for the trouble.

As far as the IRQ, I have tried moving the card around in the slots, there are 5 of them and only other device is the video card. Funny thing is that the thing works great with 1.0. It won't even boot with 2.0, go figure. I will check that the ACPI is turned off, think it is.

Thanks again,

mike

I just thought of something. I don't have th license code entered in the thing, could this cause the problem?

Networking is not enabled inless a valid license is found in the config, so yes, that would be a problem. ;-)

On initial boot, you can log into the system, but no resources will be available until a valid license is entered, saved. After a reboot, with a valid license, the machine should be available on the network.

Earlier you mentioned that 2 will work with a Mbit card. How did you manage that without a license? ;-)

That is right but with 1.0, not 2.0. So I guess that I don't get to use it until I get the DL link from you again.

We receive an enormous amount of email from people asking for download links again, I'm going to write a link retrieval system to ease this burden on Tony and I, namely me :)
