NASLite Network Attached Storage

Ok, since we're nearing the end of beta testing, here's a little teaser for all of you.

And no I don't have a release date yet , a few things need to be finished up yet, the manual, retail packaging, etc.

v2 will support IDE,SATA,SCSI,USB,Firewire in unlimited drive configurations as well as hardware raid cards.

It overall looks like a great step forward ... but I must say, that maybe the most interesting/exciting part (that we didn't already know about) from that capture might very well be "Remote Storage" item.

I am still looking for a way to create one visible share that is comprissed of several physical shares. UnionFS ...

One of my servers has 4 IDEs and I want to add 2 more. I am shopping for a PCI IDE controller, any suggestions which one's will be supported so that I do not make a bad purchase.

So far the only one I can confirm that won't work are those using ITE chipsets. I purchased a cheap one from CompUSA and it was using that chipset.

And.... I am looking to get.... an... internet connection... so.... was wondering if v2 has a default gateway because I would hate to get the wrong connection


And.... I am thinking about learning linux command line so.... was wondering if there was going to be command line access so I could add my own bash scripts and I would hate to learn the wrong version


And.... I am thinking of taking a holiday next week, or the week after (or the week after that, in fact for the next couple of months) but would hate to be away from my computer when v2 was released so... was wondering about the release date cause I would hate to miss it

will this one has any form of user/password protection to block access to certain shared drives ?

While NASLite is good for as it says a NAS system, it lacks any form of shared drive/directory access permissions, which would be great in what I really want to use it for...

ATM, any file is accessable to everyone on the network, not exactly prdent if you want to store personal files on it.

Is there a link to a list if pci cards that new kernel supports? Would adaptec or syba be on it?
